Data on the Web Best Practices. W3C First Public Working Draft. 24 February 2015.
This document provides best practices related to the
publication and usage of data on the Web. Data should be discoverable and
understandable by humans and machines and the efforts of the data publisher
recognized.This will help the interaction between the publishers and users.
Data on
the Web allows for the existence of multiple ways to represent and to
access data which is a challenge. Some of the other challenges include: metadata, formats, provenance, quality, access, versions, and preservation. The Best Practices proposed should help data publishers and data consumers overcome the different challenges faced during the data life cycle on the web. The draft proposes best practices for each one of the described
challenges.
